<p class="Paragraph">The <span style="font-weight:bold;">Templates and Documents</span> dialog can be regarded as a kind of command center for <help:productname>%PRODUCTNAME</help:productname> documents. It provides easy access to your <help:link Id="68485">work directory</help:link> and to the supplied sample documents. Here you can find all document templates - both the supplied ones and those you have created yourself.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">To open the dialog, choose <span style="font-weight:bold;">File - New - Templates and Documents </span>or press Shift+Ctrl+N. <help:switch select="System"><help:case select="WIN">In Windows, double-click the <help:productname>%PRODUCTNAME</help:productname> <help:productversion>%PRODUCTVERSION</help:productversion> Quickstarter icon on the task bar.</help:case></help:switch></p>

<p class="Paragraph">To use a template of your own which is not already located in the <help:switch select="System" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:case select="UNIX">{installpath}/user/template</help:case><help:default>{installpath}\user\template</help:default></help:switch> folder, you first have to import this template. To do this, open the <help:link Id="65871" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><span class="T1">Template Management</span></help:link> dialog, <text:s text:c="" xmlns:text="http://openoffice.org/2000/text"/>for example with <span class="T1"><text:s text:c="" xmlns:text="http://openoffice.org/2000/text"/>File - Templates - Organize</span>, and from the submenu of the <span class="T1">Commands</span> button select <span class="T1">Import Template</span>. The template selected in this way is placed in the default directory for templates.</p>
<p class="Paragraph">The document templates shown in the <span class="T1">Templates</span> list of the <span class="T1">New</span> dialog are managed by default in the folder <help:switch select="System" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><help:case select="UNIX">{netinstall}/share/template/german;{userinstall}/user/template</help:case><help:default>C:\{installpath}\share\template\german; C:\{installpath}\user\template</help:default></help:switch>. You can view and modify the paths for the templates by choosing <help:link Id="66242" xmlns:help="http://openoffice.org/2000/help"><span class="T1">Tools - Options - <help:productname>%PRODUCTNAME</help:productname> - Paths</span></help:link>. By entering multiple paths, everyone on an intranet, for example, can access the common styles (in ...share...) but nevertheless use his local, private styles (in ...user...).</p>
